WMS CTE Programs

Windsor Middle School is thrilled to be one of the few Districts to be able to offer CTE pathways that start in middle school, with our Vineyard Academy Harvest program and our SoCo BUILD programs. In addition, WMS offers "Introduction to Professional Theater," an introductory/exploratory class following AME standards and prepares students for AME pathways at the high school including Nueva. All of these programs feed directly into the corresponding high school programs and offer an introduction to what CTE pathways have to offer.

Build Academy

The Sonoma County Build Academy (BUILD) class provides students with an opportunity to explore the trades as a potential career path. Students at the 7th/8th grade exploratory level learn about basic tool use, safety, measuring, and layout. WMS has a dedicated Build shop where students put their new skills to use building projects. We also hear from guest speakers who are in the trades and take field trips to visit with local businesses and organizations involved in the trades. After transitioning to Windsor High School, students can continue with the Build program through their senior year. Upon graduation from the Build program, they will have learned the skills to enter the workforce around the trades industry.

Intro. to Performing Arts

Intro to performing arts feeds into the Nueva Core and the Digital Media Core! Students in this class learn how to sing, dance, act, build sets, make costumes, advertise, video, and edit, write songs and dances, and perform and direct!  LOTS of fun and lots of work.  We also participate in fieldtrips and several community events like the town tree lighting, the haunted maze, and the choir festival at six flags.

Culinary Arts

Introduction to Culinary Arts is a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide middle school students an overview of culinary skills and techniques. Using our fully equipped industrial culinary kitchen, the course aims to introduce students to the fundamental culinary principles, basic cooking methods, and kitchen safety practices. Additionally, students will develop an understanding of nutrition, food preparation, and explore various careers in the hospitality and tourism industry. By the end of the course, students will acquire transferable culinary skills that will enable them to prepare simple and nutritious meals. Students are also able to participate in our FCCLA chapter, which is a national organization focused on Family, Career and Community involvement, creating meaningful relationships, organizing events and participating in state and national competitions.  The Windsor Middle School Culinary Arts programs feeds directly into the Vineyard Academy program at Windsor High School, specializing in the hospitality and tourism industry with focuses in culinary, baking and pastry, entrepreneurship and personal finance.
