The Windsor Unified School District (WUSD) is pleased to announce that Angela West will be the new principal for Windsor Middle School (WMS), after serving for the last year as the assistant principal at WMS.

“We are so excited to have Angela come on board as the principal at WMS,” said WUSD Superintendent Jeremy Decker. “She’s been such a positive influence in the last year, and we know that will only continue.”

West brings a wide range of experience to her new role. She has spent six years as an administrator at the secondary school level, and prior to that she had 15 years of experience teaching at the high school level. She also spent five years as a high school athletic director.

West was a basketball player, and was a shooting guard for University of California, Davis where she double majored for a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics and Agricultural Economics. She holds three Single Subject Credentials (Economics, Business, and Introductory to Mathematics), as well as her CLAD certification. She also has a Masters of Science in Applied School Leadership and her Administrative Services Credential.

“I am so honored to accept the position to become the principal at Windsor Middle School for the 2023-24 school year,” said West. “I am invested in Windsor Middle School — it has become more than just a job for me — I have developed deep connections with our staff and students.”

West didn’t initially plan on a future as a principal, but when the previous principal announced her retirement, she knew what she wanted.

“I had no original aspirations to be principal, that’s not why I came here,” West said. “But, I found when the opportunity arrived, that I really wanted to be principal of Windsor Middle School. I couldn’t be happier to take on this role. I am part of such a wonderful team and I am so excited to continue our work.”

West has a strong vision for what she can bring to the table and how she can support WMS. “I am confident that I can bring the whole school community together and lead WMS to a whole new level of student progress and performance,” West said. “I want to create an environment where teachers can teach at their highest levels and students can learn at their highest levels. I see this as an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of students and the school community.”

West sees that community as more than just the students and staff of WMS. “I really want to focus on bringing the wider Windsor community and our families into our school community,” West said. “It’s something I’m committed to and an area of growth for our school. We have so much good here, we want to share it.”

West moved to Sonoma County last summer with her husband Jim. When she is not at WMS, she loves spending time with her husband exploring all the fun places in Sonoma County. West and her husband are enjoying their first year as empty nesters, but their five kids keep them busy. West has three kids, Grace (19), Cate (21), and Josh (23) and her husband has two boys, Jordan (20) and Jack (22).

Mrs. West & Mrs. Bryant

The Windsor Unified School District (WUSD) is pleased to announce that longtime staffer Sarah Bryant will be the new assistant principal for Windsor Middle School (WMS).

Bryant started her teaching career in 2006 and came to WMS & WUSD in 2010. Though this is her first official outing as an administrator, in the 2021-22 school year she served as the Dean of Students. In recent years she has served as the Teacher in Charge, the Activities Director and Yearbook Advisor. She has also chaired the Special Education department and the Social Studies department, and spent time as WMS’ Intervention coordinator, SST & 504 Coordinator, AVID Site Team member, Career Coordinator, Science Camp Coordinator, CAASPP Coordinator, a new teacher/intern mentor and a MTSS/PBIS team member.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Sonoma State, a Single Subject History credential and a  Special Education Teaching credential, also from Sonoma State. She received her Administrative credential from North Coast School of Education. She was also on Sonoma State's first Women's Lacrosse team.

“Sarah has been an asset to WMS for many years,” said WUSD’s HR Director Pete Sullivan. “While this feels like the next obvious step, we feel so fortunate to have her as part of our WMS admin team. Her knowledge and experience of the WMS community is simply second-to-none.”

“I am honored to accept the position of Assistant Principal at Windsor Middle School for the 2023-24 school year,” Bryant said. “Where I loved being in the classroom and teaching, being an Assistant Principal will allow me to support all students on our campus so that they can reach their full potential. Being present and building relationships with students, staff and the community is a strength of mine that will help me continue to make a positive impact at Windsor Middle School.”

“I look forward to working as a team with new Principal Angela West and continuing to develop our work to prepare students for high school as well as a positive relationship with the community,” Bryant said.

Bryant is a long-time Windsor resident, who would be known to previous students as Ms. Alvarez. She and her husband Daniel Bryant were married in 2019 and have a blended family with three kids (James,15; Alexis, 13; and Aleah, 10).

“We love supporting our kids and their various interests of baseball, Windsor Knights Cheer, and basketball,” Bryant said. “On the rare occasion that we get a free moment we love spending time in nature, Jeeping around, camping, fishing, or canoeing.”
