Counseling Services
WMS Counseling Services
Counselors help guide students through the middle school experience, and families and students are free to consult with a counselor as needs arise. Contact a counselor when:
- Family members/guardians want to schedule a teacher and/or counselor conference or discuss resources.
- Assistance with social/emotional issues, such as peer conflict.
- Students have questions or concerns regarding study skills, transitioning to high school, grades, and advice on support.
- Scheduling or program questions.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
To help ensure academic success, students may not request to change a class until after the second week at the start of each semester. Students with an incorrect placement or missing classes will be given preference for changes. Generally, requests for specific teachers will not be granted. Please note that changes may not occur due to the impact of class size.
PROMOTION AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Students who have a grade point average (GPA) below 2.0 are not eligible to participate in extracurricular activities including sports, dances, and non-instructional field trips. Students with more than 3 semester F’s during their 6th, 7th and 8th grade years are not eligible to participate in the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony. Students who do not qualify for participation in promotion may be placed on an Academic Contract that would require Saturday School attendance. Please contact your student's counselor for details.
